Beyond breaking ground in sports and education, Adnan Kujović consistently speaks up about real problems in his community and calls for responsibility, not just from institutions, but from each of us.
Adnan was one of the most active participants in the Local Dialogue in Bijelo Polje, held as part of the Together for the Common Good programme. The dialogue brought together citizens and municipal representatives to exchange views and identify both challenges and solutions for more cohesive community life. His message was clear: social cohesion starts with everyday actions.
“I’m highlighting something I face every day – irresponsible parking on lowered sidewalks. These surfaces are primarily intended for wheelchair users, but also for all pedestrians. When they’re blocked, we’re forced to move onto the road, which directly puts our safety at risk,” he says,
Social cohesion is not an abstract concept. It’s reflected in the accessibility of public spaces — in how streets, sidewalks, and institutions are designed to be equally usable for everyone. Where that’s not the case, the issue isn’t a lack of resources — it’s a lack of awareness and will.
Adnan reminds us that change depends on everyday practices: how we park, how we design urban spaces, how we listen to one another. Communities that fail to do this stagnate. Those that include all voices — grow stronger.
The Together for the Common Good programme is implemented by UNDP, UNICEF, and UNESCO in partnership with the Government of Montenegro and funded by the Peacebuilding Fund (PBF).
